Abbott hears from shooting victims

AUSTIN — In a small room on the second floor of the Texas Capitol, Gov. Greg Abbott surrounded himself Thursday with dozens of people whose loved ones were shot and killed in mass shootings.
The families lost children, parents, friends. Speaking at the governor’s third roundtable of the week, they were grasping for solutions. For something good to come of their pain.
The people hailed from Sutherland Springs and Santa Fe — sites of the two most recent massacres — as well as Alpine and Killeen.
Eric Johnson, who was born and raised in Santa Fe but now lives in Austin, said he wants the governor to call a special legislative session to deal with gun violence.
